How cold does it really get on the coast in Maine?

We've had to talk over the fire at the skating rink just so the words would thaw out so you could hear them.

I remember walking to school on a really windy, winter day and for every step I took it blew me back two steps. The only way I got to school was to turn around and go home!

Keep in mind that along the Maine coast they are also able to grow peaches.

So it is not entirely 'cold'.
