Hi I've just come into the forum (another Kiwi). I'm here mainly to grab a little more knowledge and understanding towards seeking the truth, in my spiritual journey.

Kia ora Lemo,
I am not a Kiwi, just married to one for many years. She's actually returning from visiting her parents as we speak. Just landed at LAX and will "red eye" to the east coast and I will pick her up in the morning. Good luck on your spiritual quest. New Zealand is a very spiritual place as you well know, as is Maine. I guess anyplace is as long as your practicing your principles. Welcome to virtual Maine!

The natives here(on the Maine Forum) tolerate us "from away" people but we know in our hearts that we are "not family." And we have to keep our place. If you've ever been married, and had inlaws that never felt you were good enough for their son or daughter, then you sort of know how this is.

Limited Trust, lots of verification. The Ronald Reagan Way.

ROTFLMAO!! Never experienced this "in-law" geography thing anywhere but on this forum though.

People say that the mountains of Mt Desert Island have a kind of Carlos Castenada type of power. I would agree. I'm sure there are many places on the planet which are very very old and are imbued with something of the distant past that no one in the present can even understand.

Please, I implore you: Don't perpetuate this stereotype. While it's true that there are some natives who feel this way, there are still many others who strongly believe that as long as "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" applies, anyone from who is not natively born here will be welcomed by the, sigh, "natives." They just don't seem to spend much time posting on CD.

Now, on the other hand, if someone moves here and sets about post haste to change the way of doing things to reflect wherever it was that they sought to get away from (as does often happen) THEN you'll see that Mainer's generally don't have much of a problem with speaking their minds about how newcomers can "not let the door hit them on the way out."
