Hi - My husband and I plan on taking a trip to Maine this summer to check out the state and see which area is best to raise a family should we be fortunate to move out there in the near future. We have two boys (10 and 8 years old). Any ideas what the best spot is to enjoy all Maine has to offer and still be close enough to Portland would be greatly appreciated.

There are jobs out there though it depends on your familiarity with the types of systems a company is using. My wife's company has had a hard time finding a number of IT people as not a lot of candidates are familiar with their system.

Thanks. My husband plans on contacting a recruiter this week. He hopes that they can provide insight on the type of IT expertise companies are in need of. He is really good at what he does, but as you said so many companies use so many different systems, that the challenge is finding the right fit. Hoping for the best...

Welcome and good luck. This is a portal to job links at Maine.gov. They have a good website for information you might need.

My family would like to relocate to Maine from Hawaii in the next 2-4 years. We have 2 children currently aged 9 and 7(Yes you all heard right, Paradise is not perfect, especially if you are Middle class) I am a High School Chemistry teacher ( I hold a B.A in Chemistry and have taught Chemistry for the past 4 years) My husband is a jack of many trades. I fell in love with Maine, particularly Bangor from Stephen King stories. Any suggestions out there? We will be selling our home, and I hope to pursue Initial Teacher Licensure.

You should have no trouble finding a totally unrelated job here in Maine. I bet you could make a whopping $12 hour until you become proficient at your new career choice (wink)

I'm betting it wont be business intelligence or project management.

In Maine, you take what you can get and make the best of it.
