Licensing Car in MD, not American, don't live there.. Help
Good day,
First off I just want to say I have searched this forum looking for what I want and couldn't find it exactly. I would like to get a car in the US and drive it to Canada for school, I am Canadian and hold a Canadian license(and Bermuda license) which directly transfers with MD. The obvious reason for doing this is to avoid the crazy Canadian car/insurance prices, but the other reason is one day and potentially fairly soon my parents might buy a house in the US. And another reason is I MAY transfer to a school in Maryland. I have read about the person mailbox things that you can use to register a car too since its not a PO box. Is there anything else that I would need to get? Do I have to live in the US?
thanks

Just a mailbox or PO box isn't gonna cut it. You need a signed lease, utility bills, etc. to prove that you're a resident of the state. I brought in an "un-executed" (just signed by me) lease and was turned away by the MVA.
It's not going to happen. Try once you're actually living down in MD and have established legitimate residency.

Then you would pay tuition as an out-of-state student. It's a catch-22 if you are just trying to avoid paying Canadian car taxes.
