Hi , I need a bit of advice . I will be in Alexandria Virginia in March . I have an 11am flight out of BWI on Thursday March 6th. What is the commute time by car from Alexandria to BWI and what is the best route to avoid rush hour traffic? I would like to get to BWI by 9am. I'll need to drop off my rental car before I catch my flight . I am not familiar with the area so any help will be much appreciated !!!

Take the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495) towards Baltimore to the Baltimore-Washington Parkway towards Baltimore (Exit 22A). From there, just stay on the Parkway to I-195 East, which leads you directly to the airport terminal. There are plenty of signs along the B/W Parkway for I-195 so you can't miss it.

I suggest you leave early around 6 am. You'll get a head start on traffic and it will likely take you about an hour, so that gives you plenty of time to drop off your rental car as well as checking in and going through security.

Any crashes could add time to your commute and there is a possibility that it will occur. For the most part you should be fine.
