Why do people assume that people from Massachusetts are automaticly from Boston, when most of us are from the other 99% of the state

*Btown does not stand for Boston it stands for a differant town that begins with a B.

Just go with it...Bedford is a bike's ride away. Since you are in New York, please make the effort to tell everyone they suck. Thanks

And most people think NYC when someone brings up New York State, or Philadelphia, when thinking of Pennsylvania. So what? It doesn't bother me.

Had a hysterical conversation about this with a bartender down in the VI's. It's not BOSTON people it's Massachusetts....then qualify it by how far from Boston if you must. ie: Massachusetts- a town called Braintree about 10 miles south of Boston.

I think of it as the Boston metro area as opposed to the strict definition of the city. Boston is fairly small compared to the metro area. Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea are all separate from Boston but are part of the metro area. Half the population of MA lives in the Boston metro area...
