I need to go to Walthan from Providence during Weekdays using public transport. I need to reach Waltham at 6:00 PM in evening. Please advise best possible way to reach.

MBTA.com > Commuter Rail Maps and Schedules The Purple line can do this for you as from Providence, you can get to South Station, make your way to North Station and that will get you into Waltham Center. Bit of a dance between North and South stations if I remember correctly, but doable. The link I posted can take you to the scheduling. Safe Travels

It's not going to be a short ride by any stretch of the imagination but it can be done and that's the way to do it.

The others have given you the correct route, but as has been stated, it's a lengthy commute. Is there any way you can take part in a ride share to Waltham? A lot of people from the Providence area commute to that region of the 128 belt. It would save you hours.

You can check or post on Craigslist's carpool section or use a site like eRideshare, Ridester, rideshare.com or Carpoolworld. You may be able to find something in there.

I would get to South Station Boston bus or commuter rail, then walk to Express 505 at Otis & Summer Street - be in Waltham 50 min later.
