What is the best way to get from the Waltham commuter rail station to the area of the Doubletree hotel in Waltham (near First Ave). I'd gladly take a commuter rail every day - it's the damn hop from the Waltham station to work that's the killer. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Default Try the MBTA

The 70/70A is the only means of MBTA transport to that area. There is another bus (170) that infrequently runs along Bear Hill rd, but it does not run around the time you might want it. And it does not start at the Commuter Rail station. (starts at Main st & Weston st)

Link to 70/70A schedule off the MBTA website:

Please keep in mind there are two versions of the 70A bus and you will need to check if the bus runs on this route in the mornings.

In case you require a cab, you could call Waltham Taxi from the payphone on the station. Their number is 1-888-747-1117. Very responsive and usually around in 5 minutes!

Hope this information helps.

There's also supposed to be a shuttle from that area to the Alewife terminal on the Red Line. Ask around, 'cause that'd make for a cheaper trip.
