So, which do you prefer?

My first is Wachusett IPA, then Wachusett Green Monsta and Harpoon IPA. I like most Wachusett products, for some reason never saw the big hoopla about Sam Adams.

I went with Wachusetts. I love their Summer Ale, and most of their beers. My husband got a kegerator this spring and we have Berkshires Steel Rail Pale Ale in there, which is also good.

The thing I like about Sam Adams is that they make so many different varieties of beer. I can think of a number of SA beers that I enjoy. Boston Lager is really just such a great beer anytime of year. Wachusett is also great and I have a 12 pack of Green Monsta in my fridge right now. Wachusett Larry is an awesome beer if you've never had it. As far as Harpoon goes, I've just never been interested in going out of my way to have their beer. There's just nothing exciting about it for me.

The good news is . . . MA has some pretty darn good breweries now.

If I had to pick one to stick with it would probably be out of these:

Jack's Abby (Framingham) - Hoponious Union
Brewmaster Jack (Northampton) - Ambrewsia IPA
Big Elm (Sheffield) - 413 Farmhouse Ale
Slumbrew - Porter Square Porter
Anything by Pretty Things!
Tree House (Brimfield) - Julius IPA
Night Shift (Everett) - Trifecta

Have never been a big fan of Wachusett, I find most of their stuff mediocre (to each their own of course) but decent standard IPA, Green Monsta, and Larry. There's an embarrassment of beer riches across the country these days and MA has recently sprouted an incredible array of breweries. My list of obscure favorites only scratches the surface.

I also like the Grey Lady from Cisco. Grey Lady - Cisco Brewers Inc. - Nantucket, MA - BeerAdvocate but Jack D'Or is my favorite MA brew.

LOVE Grey Lady from Cisco. Glad to see a decent amount of places in Boston are serving it.

I went with Harpoon, but Cisco is a close second. Both of their breweries are great to visit and more importantly they have a solid array of beer offerings.

I'm a huge fan of Blue Hills Brewery, located on 138 in Canton. I'm drinking their King's Kolsch right now. Their Watermelon wheat is my favorite fruit beer and they have a number of other tasty brews. They also do free tastings on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Well worth the trip. The brewery is a bit hard to find and doesn't look like much but the beer is awesome. And no, I don't work for them.

When on the Vineyard don't miss:

Offshore Ale Co. | Martha's Vineyard Massachusetts

Whenever down there I try not to leave without a growler, they have some nice ales.
