Hey everyone,

I'm looking to relocate to the Waltham area for a job starting at the end of May, and I was wondering if anyone could give me good suggestions for parts of town that would be a good fit for a young professional.

It would be nice to be close to restaurants and a music venue, and also relatively close to the commuter rail.

Thanks for your help!

Waltham itself, near Bank Square and Moody Street, has all of these things.

Moody St is great for hanging out! You can sit in on a live Irish music jam session, sample in-house microbrews, nosh on tapas, determine how hot you like Indian - and Thai - curries, catch a first-run movie, have a special-occasion night at the Tuscan Grill, gorge on Lizzy's ice cream...the list goes on. There's also a growing number of fun places along Main St surrounding where Moody intersects.

There's a commuter-rail station on the line connecting Concord and other western suburbs to Cambridge and Boston, right on Moody St adjacent to the bridge. Was access to city life a reason for bringing it up? Because, if so, it's more economical to use MBTA buses. Here again you're in a good place. In addition to the popular Route 70 that passes through Watertown (where you can transfer for service to Harvard Square) en route to Cambridge's Central Square, there are express lines right into downtown Boston.

Inquiries about Waltham can be safely classified as "FAQ's" in this forum. Do a search to find out more particulars regarding places to live. (You'll see my screen name on a goodly number of the posts in other threads, so I can say this. )

Goyguy sums it up. You can check out Archstone apartments or Watch City lofts near the river.

They are about to redo all of the sidewalks in downtown so pardon the dust.
