I have to go from Quincy Adams to exit 3 on rte 3 by 6 pm this Friday.

Will traffic be backed up that far? If I leave by 5, I can make it there no problem by 6 normally. But it's been a long time since dealing with cape or holiday traffic.

Exit 3 is Plymouth so that probably won't work.

The train is not an option. I have to drive. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much worse the traffic will be on this friday compared to a normal one. There's typically a slow down in Braintree and Weymouth where it goes down to 2 lanes. Then another slow down around exit 5 or 6. Should I expect it to be bad all the way down?

I misread; thought the OP was going to the Cape.

Yes to what?
It's going to be a mess. Usually 93 is backed up from at least Mass Ave to the split and Route 3 is heavy from the split to the Sagamore. You know 5 pm on a Friday of a holiday weekend is a horrible time to do that drive.

I have a reverse commute so I see this all time on Fridays this time of year: Rte. 3 will be a parking lot from the Rte 18 exit down to maybe exit 12 (Marshfield) with a few breaks here and there. Beyond that I have no idea, but I suspect it wouldn't change much.

I had a coworker who lived in the Bourne area. If she didn't take back roads to get home (1 hour minimum commute), it'd take her 2-3 hours to reach her exit on Rte. 3 this time of year.

I know it'll be terrible. I'm just trying to get an idea of how much sooner I should leave.

How firm is your arrival time? If you have to be there at 6 I'd probably allow at least 2 hours.
