I'm taking my son to college visits later this week. Coming out from the Berkshires and staying with relatives in Lowell. I was planning to take the Lowell line into Boston this Friday, 10/30. But we're not going in until 10:00. Will there be parking at the MBTA lot or nearby at that time?

I can just drive to Anderson in Woburn if Lowell will be a problem as know there's always plenty of parking there. But I'd rather not need to drive back from Woburn on 93 at 4:30 if I don't have to. Would be more convenient to take it from Lowell but I don't want to waste time looking for parking in Lowell if there won't be any by 9:30 or so. Also, didn't know if it would be better on Friday or if every day during the week is pretty much the same.

Thanks for any info!

Are you staying near an LRTA bus route? That would eliminate the need to worry about parking. They all go to the Lowell station; some also connect to the North Billerica and Wilmington stations.

I can't comment about Lowell specifically, but Fridays typically have more open spots at commuter rail lots. More people tend to drive into work on Fridays so they have their car after staying in the city for dinner/entertainment.

Sorry I got here late. There should be plenty of parking at the Lowell station. They have a three or four floor garage that I don't remember ever closing for being full.

Thanks guys. That's great news Magicshark-makes planning the day much easier. Now all I need is for the colleges to give us money!

I don't want to steer you wrong so please check with relatives to make sure the proposed construction on Gallagher Terminal is not going on right now. If it is it could be a huge headache.

Edit: never mind, I just checked and construction is done.
