my mother's duplex apt in Newton maybe available for rent. 1 bedroom, kitchen, living room, basement, indoor garage, back yard---$1200.00 does not include utilities.

Thanks for the advice thus far. I did like Quincy, but it seems to have very defined "good" and "bad" pockets.. quite like what I'm used to in Providence. I just need to figure which are which.

I'm liking the idea of finding something in Norwood, and also plant to check out Mansfield. Is there any Main Street in the Medfield area that's worth noting?

Oops, just looked at your original post. Medfield is more for families. Norwood has pubs, restaurants and many, many more rentals. You'd be better off there.
