I once put together 3 transactions from my car on the way from NYC back to Boston. Used my laptop, my cell as a wireless hotspot, and my eSignature platform. Got to love electronic signatures!

Absolutely. You have to be able to get things done from anywhere and everywhere in our business. There's an old saying in real estate . . . if you don't service your clients, someone else will.

Banking/Finance

I can work from home when need/desire arises. not an every day thing. I manage a team so I need to be there to watch the minions.

I have been working exclusively from home (except when visiting clients, which is probably 25% of the time) for about 8 years now. I'll head in to our offices in Boston once in a while if its nice out and I feel like getting away from the home office for a day, but otherwise I couldn't imagine going back to having to commute every day. Gross.

I've been a telecommuter for the last 7 years. The nearest "office" is some Regus office suites in the Denver Tech Center. Most of the US-based employees sit in a low rise office building in metro-LA. This is two companies in a row with a Denver office area and metro-LA HQ. I just need internet, cell phone, and reasonable access to a good airport.

Did you have a chauffeur?

If I say yes and my wife happens to read this I'm going to be in a lot of trouble. Let's just leave it at: I was not the one driving.

I too am a Realtor which gives me the option of working anywhere anytime since I keep the most active client files with me. Today I will be working from the car between appointments!!

I've been a full-time telecommuter since 2009. I feel extremely blessed for the flexibility it has afforded me, especially since I've moved 3 times since 2009, so it was fantastic not having to find a new job each time! I'm an engineer in the wire & cable business, but almost all of the other employees are confined to an actual office. As I said, I feel very blessed!

The most common question people ask me is if I work in my pj's. Absolutely not. I find that very distracting. I always wear regular clothes.

The only "con" about working from my home office is the extra effort & time wasted trying to get answers out of people in the brick & mortar office. It's too easy for folks to ignore emails/voicemails/ringing phones, but not so easy if I am standing in their office asking my questions.

Of course I also work from home for free on nights/weekends.
I'm retracting this statement. I'm trading my Boston commute and 9-5 grind for a part time consulting gig that allows me to work from anywhere in the world. I'll save 15 hrs/week on the commute and I get to pick up my kids from school everyday.
