Odd question yes. We had plans to move to NC but the job offer fell through and we extended our lease to stay in Fla till April. We extended our job search reach back to NE (we left NH in 08) . It started as a sort of "what if" joke but now we are curious. Husband is leaving career in law enforcement (12 years) and just graduated FIU with a degree in finance/business. He's top 15% of his class and magna *** laude so he no dummy. The issue is experience (isn't it always ). We would be open to living in NH and working in Boston. I'm not as familiar with MA as far as town goes so I can't say if I'd live there. Anyone in finance that has any insight? Whats a strong field right now to get into in NE if there is one?

Probably more finance, banking and insurance jobs in the RTP, North Carolina area these days than in Greater Boston.

Boston is a much larger Financial Center than the Raleigh area and has more jobs in Finance than that area.

DOL is creating a significant bump in hiring. Firms are scrambling to get people to help deal with the account movement and compliance. Everything has to be done by April 2017. This is a good time to get your foot in the door.

We were looking in the Charlotte area because it's a finance hub. A lot of businesses have pulled out lately due to polictal issues and I think a lot of them were Finance . The result is a flooded market of experienced finance people .

Based on where you've lived before, I would think that your husband would HATE commuting into Boston from NH. Plus, he'd be paying MA income tax on what he'd be earning from his Boston job. Add in fuel and daytime parking costs, and it might not be worth living in NH and working in Boston.

BTW didn't you both end up really hating living in NH?

You're going in the wrong direction! I made that mistake 20+ years ago. I'll be out of here, likely next year, but only part-time. If I could go back, I'd have stayed in FL. Biggest mistake of my life moving back to MA.

We did years ago. We were young (yearly 20's)!and very broke and had family constantly telling us "you'll be back in a year". Things have changed and we are more financially stable and had our "fun". We are mid 30's now and have a child and now have 3 degrees between us (we had none when we moved up there). We wanted something new but as most 20 year olds we didn't know what we wanted. We are ready to settle down now into a more quiet lifestyle with our 7 year old. No more clubs and late Friday nights for us lol.

And our biggest is moving back to Fla. We will be out in April no matter where we end up (NC,NH,MA). We regretted coming back a year after we arrived and remembered why we left. We stuck around to get degrees and have a family but it's time to move on!
