A Map like this would have helped some time ago when i moved from a densely populated Boston neighborhood, actually Coolidge Corner, which i considered noisy. Moved to a small town which i strongly presumed would be quieter. The noise was worse than the city.

Did you move close to an interstate highway or near busy railroad tracks?

Yep I grew up in a pretty rural area, now I live in Somerville the most dense city in New England and it sounds crazy but it's definitely quieter here. My only complaint is that gentrification is spurring construction noise so it's a bit more noisy than 5 years ago.

Growing up, there were lawnmowers, leaf blowers and tractors all the time. The lawnmowers were always on the weekend, you could sit on the deck with a great view but it was rarely quiet. Ironically here in Somerville living on a side street is much quieter - almost no lawnmowers or leaf blowers, and the dense housing actually creates noise insulation. Choosing a side street is key though.

Not sure how up to date this map is. There is definitely plenty of aviation noise where I live, yet it isn't shown.
