At one time being inside Rte 128 was considered a Boston suburb. Then inside I495 was considered a Boston suburb. Pretty soon it will be inside I91.

Ok so both Boston and some Tennessee city have cows grazing in their immediate, close-in suburbs. I stand corrected. And Boston is no NYC.

A lot of cities have pockets of agriculture close to the core within suburban tracks. Not sure why this is a revelation of any sorts.

Yeah. We don't have NFL teams that are so lousy that they have to play in another state.

And we don't have some lady named Mrs O'Leary's cow kick over a lantern that burned down the city.

Cambridge has always been desirable to a point, but nothing like today. I'm talking more like that the price of a rando condo in Cambridge compared to a burb town might not have been much different in 2005. You might still be losing money if you bought in the burbs then.

You cannot compare the past. The ability to make more $$ living near cambridge is greatly increased just in the last 10 years.

For example, BIOGEN are hoping for a breakthrough in alzheimers announced this week. Another cambridge biotech company announced promising news also.

God help the real estate market if biotechs start showing REAL results

And thank God for that. I do think the Boston area has an unrealistic amount of undeveloped land in close proximity, for the amount of population in the metro area. Some open space is needed, but the NIMBYism is extreme especially west of the city. Somewhere in the middle would be nice.

For NIMBYism to stop, the state will have to alter school funding.

I hate NIMBYism, but also entirely understand the motivation behind it. Ideologically I'm all for providing opportunities for the lesser advantaged, but there are also an array of reasons I might not want 20 low income units abutting my property ... the very definition of "not in my backyard". It's asking people to vote against their own self interest.

Luxury condos are hardly for the "lesser advantaged", even if they aren't really that luxury.

Luxury condos aren't what most are calling for when they scream "more density".
