Dear all,

Can you please let me know which in-person SAT tutoring is best? We live in Belmont. And also, can you please let me know which pre-medical schools are good in New England area?

Thank you so much!

If your student can't figure out this much on their own, they're not adequately prepared for a career as a doctor.

I agree. But my son came up with his choices and, as a parent, I am just trying to ensure those are right choices. Unfortunately, I am an immigrant and therefore need to ask around before I advise him.

I don't personally know any parent who provided in-person SAT counseling. I know that there are classes you can sign them up for if you think that will help him.

You could make an appointment with his school guidance counselor and discuss this.

Thank you. Since SAT score is important, I thought kids are provided SAT coaching. I spoke with my son't guidance counsellor who gave me a list of coaching centers such as Kaplan, Signet etc. But then, I was not sure which one is the right one.

I think you would need to interview each one to see which one fits your son the best.

How old is your son has he taken the PSAT, yet?

My son just turned 16 last month. He is a sophomore. He took PSAT but didn't take SAT as yet.

Open Door Education in Acton and Concord is wonderful for one on one SAT and ACT tutoring. Used them for my daughter. No need to start until about 4-6 months before the exam.

Tufts is considered an excellent pre-medical school.

Thank you. Unfortunately, Acton and Concord are far from where I live (Belmont). Wish there are tutoring centers close-by :-(

I understand trying to find someplace or someone within Belmont. You may get lucky. But, tutoring is once a week and Concord is a 15 minute drive from Belmont & Acton is 20-25 minutes from Belmont. Your son can avoid driving during rush hour and it would be very doable for him. I know of families (including mine) that have longer drives and manage it.
