Ooh this one in Littleton is more interesting than anything else. Got Septic issues. Was put on the market at 432k on March 8th and they get a bite but on the 18th the buyer backs out. They cut the price to 399k on the 28th and get a second one to bite. They backed out on Wednesday and the seller now has cut the price further all the way down to 300k.
Getting a septic permit in Littleton is a huge deal, especially if the house has been vacant. Also the price has to reflect getting the design done and the landscape damage that the installation causes.

I've always disliked them. Feels like a cramped 3-bed room apartment upstairs and a basement downstairs.

A trig-level is a whole different thing. (Grew up in one)

Huh! Most of the 3 bedroom splits have at a miminum a living room, dining room and an eat-in kitchen. How many apartments have both a dining room and an eat-in kitchen? I've never seen one in real life, only on TV.

The upper floor of a split, if isolated is like a typical ranch home.

Decades from now people will be saying how much they don't like the white farmhouse black window look.

Whatever happened to keeping it classic

Decades from now? I know I'm already over the white farmhouse black window look! I'm also over the wacky looking, multi roof line angled houses. What about some classic dormered capes and brick front colonials with architecturally accurate shutters (you know the ones that actually attach with hinges and are the right size for the windows, not too tall or wide, or cheap looking vinyl ones that are just slapped on the sides). You still see some of these classic done-right houses in places like Chatham, Ipswich, Newburyport, Hingham, Duxbury, Concord, etc.

Yeah, I absolutely hate this trend of creating roofs with all those useless gables. All the builders are doing is creating extra points of potential roof failure. Every unnecessary gable creates two roof valleys that require extra care to prevent roof leaks....and they look stupid.

^^
Yes, it's like the builder throws in every design option without considering how they work or if they work together.

On a lot of new builds you see this luxury vinyl plank flooring. They don't even do real hardwoods anymore. I guess the vinyl plank stuff could be good if you have a dog and don't want your floor to show scratches but wood generally looks nicer and holds up longer b/c it can be refinished.

The vinyl plank is good to install over concrete slabs. I have it in my lower level which is on a slab. My upper level is hardwood.
