Town-by-town results voting results (Boston, Springfield: home, retiring, best)

I'm really impressed with the high voting turnouts yesterday! Especially with the foul weather conditions. It's interesting that Springfield (32%), Gosnold (34%), Lowell (38%). Lynn (38%), Holyoke (36%), New Bedford (35%) and Lawrence (28%) had the lowest voter turnouts, which brought down the average.

Highest voting turnout honours go to Topsfield (75%), Westwood (74%) and Bolton (74%).

Massachusetts looks so different in red. It's been blue for so long. Great turnout...and great example of democracy in action. Good job Massachusetts voters...no matter who you voted for (but thanks so much for voting more for Scott Brown! )

Sherborn had a 77% turnout. Quite remarkable.

The town by town breakdown is pretty much what I expected, with exceptions being perhaps blue collar communities like Saugus and Revere voting Rep.

I don't consider Massachusetts a red state now. I think that what most of us want is moderation... not being governed by anyone in the extreme, whether it's the Dems or the Republicans. I feel that what we are hoping for is commonsense and being a moderate Republican. Obama is just too leftist.

And the voters do want to be listened to. Obama comes across as some father figure who thinks that he knows what's best for all of us, but we don't believe him. Again, as a democracy, we want input, we didn't vote for a man that thinks he can do no wrong and acts like a king in the way he directs those underneath him.

I agree...not so much a Republican statement...but rather an anti-Democrat-agenda statement.

The truth is that Scott Brown could not have beaten Ted Kennedy!! A statement, at this time, had to be made to Washington that it is "We the People"!! Brown won because he is not a far right Republican and because of that, conservative Democrats and more conservative independents were willing to vote for him. The liberal Democrats have too long ruled their party. Washington's Republican Party will soon learn that he is not the true "Red State" Republican. I expect him to vote with the party only 75-85% of the time. If he votes more than that for Republican issues, he could only be there one term. Remember it is still Massachusetts!!

New Hampshire has their own senate election to worry about since Judd Gregg is retiring.

I think the most surprising result came from Cape Cod. Given that the Kennedy clan has such a presence there, it was amazing to me that they (except Provincetown) voted Republican.
