We are relatively new to the Memphis area, and are looking to find a church home. We like a more contemporary church and like aspects of the Life Church (Cordova and Collierville campus) as well as Highpoint. Are there any other churches similar to these two that we could try?

Hope Church in Cordova is contemporary. I have not been to Life Church or Highpoint, so I cannot really compare it with them, but you may want to check it out. Warning: it's very large. This was a challenge for me at first, but once we started getting plugged in, that giant feel changed drastically. We love it!

I like aspects of these churches, but feel like there might be another that I like better. I just don't want to settle into one without making sure I have exhausted all other options. Any suggestions?

Derekb, I have been looking for 3 years, have probably visited 30+ churches. You and I must look for similar things, because those 2 made my top list, but after going halfway through the class to join C'ville Life Church, just couldn't get past the the things that did not feel right. Now going to a contemporary service at a Methodist church. I feel like I'm settling, and have not found a positive, uplifting, BIBLE teaching church like I attended in Virginia. I still listen online to the webcast of my previous church every week to get a great sermon.

Let me know what you find out and I'll do the same!

My wife and I attended Hope Pres before we moved...Now we can't find a church that can compare to what we had back in Memphis. Check out Hope, I didn't go to church for 13 years bc it never felt right...but something felt right there.

We have been to Hope a couple of times, and liked a lot of things about it, it's just soooo big, and the sermon felt a little 'light'. Thanks for the tip, maybe I need to go back and give it another shot.

^ Hope does have the reputation for being very "light" People often say that it's a church for new Christians, and they move on to other churches when they want more depth

What does 'light' mean? Not enough hellfire and brimstone for you? Too much peace, love, and understanding?

Jesus with all that love and peace garbage really gets in the way of a good time, doesn't he?

Not enough in-depth Bible teaching. Hate the hellfire and brimstone, they're a dime a dozen around here.
