How about an honest and reasonably priced auto mechanic? I just took my car to Meineke in Olive Branch and they wanted $400 for a simple tune up!

400 bucks???? Thats steep. What kind of car do you have? I took my car to the Nissan dealership and got one for less than 200.

It's a 20 year old Mercury Grand Marquis. I was thinking around $100-$150 would have been right.

I did my own last year for about $60. My car is old though and easy to do.

Any non-chain store places anyone can recommend?

That is not goodyear, firestone, etc., but individually owned mechanic's shops?

Warr & Geurin Garage in Bartlett has always been fair to us. Solved a problem with our Ford truck that even Ford couldn't figure out!

We use Madison Automotive on Covington Pike, although as of yet I don't recall having had any major repairs that needed doing. Pretty good with the basic stuff though.

I've never used them, but I have a couple of friends who recommend Cordova Automotive (near Fischer Steel and Germantown Parkway). I trust these friends, but I also find that nearly everyone you ask has a different opinion about the same mechanic or shop.
