Default Pre-K advice

We just moved to Memphis. My little one is 3.5. Can I have advice on good pre-school with after-school service or a day care. Preferably in the down-town area, my spouse works for St. Jude.
thanks

Hands down - the Foreign Language Immersion Center on the island. Lots of St. Jude staff have their children there. Also the Montessori school on the island, but I'm not sure if they do pre-k or before/after school. Those are the only quality places downtown that I know people send their children to. UT also offers childcare discounts to UT/St. Jude employees but I am not familiar with anyone who sends their children there. It is located basically downtown, on the UT campus.

You might also want to check the Midtown area, which is just a few minutes from Downtown. There are a lot more options in Midtown, though not necessarily any better than the Downtown ones PearlBob mentioned. A few I've heard really good things about: Lindenwood, Idlewild Pres., First Congo and Union Ave. Baptist. Good luck.

Idlewild Presbyterian on Union (Midtown, not Downtown) is terrific. My son went there, and we loved it.
