Very high here in AZ. It seems, despite ample sun, folks get depressed leading to substance abuse or booze. I for one, grewup in alchie family w. dad & mom, & both maternal g.parents drunks. No wonder I like wine, beer, or sometime; hard stuff. Anyone correlate the data in your own family or lives & see a pattern? Just wondering...

Lots of genetics involved and some groups of people react differently to alcohol. Jews, Italians, and Asians are less likely to be alcoholics than Poles, Russians, or Irishmen.

So, provided the above: there exists a substantial Native American tribes population in AZ, too. Greater propensity for alcoholism, "I think." I'm Irish, and know something about the Irish Curse. It is what it is, haven't had a drink in 26-plus years 'cause it just isn't a good idea for me.

Wonder how this fits into that state's data. Hmm.

You could have the best climate in the world, but if you also have a struggling economy, poor educational opportunities, high unemployment, subpar social services, spousal and child abuse and neglect you're going to see higher rates of depression and substance abuse.
