How to find right therapist for anxiety disorder?
======================================

Thanks for replying to my threads. Here is the background. This forum gave many insights.

He is working with a therapist only on talking sessions virtually. He is still making a small issues as a mountain one. Eg. Dust in computer key board. After using spray duster, he finds still dust in key board.

  • Excessive, ongoing worry and tension
  • Inability to set aside or let go of a worry
  • Difficulty handling uncertainty
  • Overthinking plans and solutions to all possible worst-case outcomes

I learned that CBT/Mindfulness can help to overcome anxiety disorder . Is it true?

How do I find good therapist, who can deploy CBT/Mindfulness?

What kind of qualification/certification/training look on these therapists?

I am living south of Baltimore , Maryland.

As adults, how will we able to help him to get desired relief?

Thanks for guidance.

Cognative/Behavioral therapy is the way to go, IMO.

Call around to different counseling services or Psychologist's offices and ask what kind of techniques they use. Ideally, you would like them to say they offer it rather than asking and have them say "sure, we do that." You may have to ask though.

After the first couple of sessions, if this technique isn't being used, ask why and switch ASAP if necessary. Just my opinion here, but "talk therapy" does not work well with anxiety disorders. Get an anxious person to talk for an hour about everything they are anxious normally leaves them feeling worse. It almost turns those bad thoughts and hang-ups into stronger realities by having to discuss them over and over. If it were possible to just "talk people out" of this issue, or for the anxious person to have the "oh yeah, that sure isn't rational!" epiphany, it wouldn't be something that requires extra help.
