I've suffered with depression for many decades, and PTSD from childhood experiences....
And as the thread title suggests, I had thought my problems were bad... but I can't help but to think of those people in Uvalde, TX. Most especially those surviving children.
Those youngsters are gonna be plagued with PTSD (if not already); when I was 10, I found a fellow student dead - he was only 9, and he had hanged himself - and I handled that okay, but to see several of your fellow students - innocent children - slaughtered... I think that would have driven me to the point of suicide!

Children of Uvalde: I don't know you, but I love you. My heart goes out to you!

Thanks for such a nice post. All my life I would tell myself "but those other peoples' problems are so much worse than mine." What I learned at long last was that I shouldn't gaslight myself. I should pay more and different attention, and do something about my own healing which I wasn't really doing although I thought I was.

That's actually a dangerous way to think. What you are going through and how you are feeling is valid, regardless of anything anyone else is going through. You are free to feel the way you feel. Thinking otherwise can lead to guilt which only works to make you feel worse. Don't do that to yourself.

The thing is, there is always someone with worse problems than anyone else. I think you are sheltered from the true horrors of the world outside the united states. There are children being assaulted and abused everyday suffering much worse than the kids in Texas. Try watching some documentaries on what ISIS does to men, women and children, or even what abuse some Amish children go thru. Or google the torture and rape that Syria systemically inflicts on men, women, and children. What North Korea does to its people. What mexican cartels do to people. Its almost traumatic to even read some of this stuff and its so gruesome it doesn't get fully reported in the media. This was a one time event for kids in middle class america. Nothing compared to the torture and abuse many have been thru throughout the world.
