Depending on how severe the person's dementia is, they probably shouldn't be driving regardless whether they have seizures or not. Consider if the person with dementia does get some sort of precursor to a seizure (such as the reported aura) while behind the wheel what makes you think they would take the appropriate action?

Frightening that dementia is being referred to as type 3 diabetes.

Not dementia, very specifically Alzheimer's, and it's simply a proposed name for a hypothesis- that AD is triggered by a form of insulin resistance occurring specifically in the brain. Calling AD "type 3 diabetes" is a super oversimplification of scientifically valid data on the causes of AD.

You wouldn't consider dementia a "brain disorder"? In any case, your statement is inaccurate:

That ref tells us sugar consumption has gone up 60x since 1700-- but in 1700, life expectancy was 25yrs-- few people lived long enough to get diabetes or AD. Psuedo-science.

Seizures are about 5x more common in those with AD, but still very, very rare. Seizures can be caused by things like small strokes-- too small to produce other signs, and AD and lacunar infarcts are causally associated with aging, but not necessarily with each other.

As far as dementia and not driving-- Do we really need to explain that one? Do we need seizures as the reason or are they just a minor, additional reason?

Although this is true, the medication for epilepsy in older people can cause some memory issues.

dementia is a not brain DISORDER,as we age,we lose brain cells,so we have difficulty coping with chores which we easily handle in our younger days.
I understand we are born with x number of brain cells, and we will keep losing them as we age.
Q- what happens if we lose too much potassium.do we suffer mild seizure?
