Mexico shut down schools, museums, libraries and state-run theaters across its overcrowded capital Friday in hopes of containing a swine flu outbreak that authorities say killed at least 20 people — and perhaps dozens more. World health authorities worried openly that the strange new virus could become a global epidemic.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said tests show some of the Mexico victims died from the same new strain of swine flu that sickened eight people in Texas and California. Of the 14 samples tested from Mexico, seven were matches, said the CDC's acting director Dr. Richard Besser.

I might be wrong, but I believe people is getting more scared than they should, obviously the government is taking measures to prevent the epidemic from spreading further, yet these meassures have created a collective hysteria.

Hopefully everything will be solved in a matter of weeks

This could be as bad as the flu of 1918, or even worse. Keep praying.

20 cases in the US out of 300 million people. 81 deaths in Mexico out of 110 million people. I'm scared to death! NOT! Don't bother crossing the street, you will be killed by a car.

A little perspective would be nice.

Of course they did, the US is getting over-populated, so is the rest of the world, so the only way to keep US population controlled is to spread this virus.

If they don't spread this virus we can over-populate the US Government, and i don't think they'll like that.

Why do you think they have all these Gun rights? So that criminals can still purchase guns and shoot innocent people, crime also contributes to lower the US population.

Ah, conspiracy theories .
