We are planning a trip this summer to visit relatives. How long does it take to drive to Monterrey from Houston? What about from Houston to Mexico City? Thanks!

From Houston to MTY:

5Hours. Houston - San Antonio - Laredo TX. (I10W and then I35.)

6Hours. Houston - Victoria - Laredo TX (US59)

The customs and the exit of Nuevo Laredo can take 1 to 2 hours.

From Nuevo Laredo to Monterrey 2 hours.

Exit from MTY 15 minutes by toll road called Periferico to Saltillo.

To Mexico City are 11 hours aprox.

So all the way non-stop are like 20 hours. Very good roads all the way.

Regards!

Thank you! Very helpful info. I asked the same question on the Houston board and it sounds like some people are quite scared of the trip. I think we'll be fine!

Smile I did it in 18 hours

I drove from Houston to Mexico city straight through in 18 hours in december last year. Of course I went a little fast and was motivated to get there. I left at 2am and arrived at Tlalnepatnla at 8pm the same day.

Steve- are you serious that you got married in Santa Monica!!??? We did too!!! I wonder if is is the same Santa Monica!??? All my kids were baptized there as well. Is it the one by Mundo E? There are probably many churches named Santa Monica, but what a funny coincidence.

Anyway- about driving- we are leaving Houston tomorrow very early in the morning. Any tips? We will probably do it in 2 days since we have little kids.

Default border

Where is it better to cross the border? At Laredo, Brownsville or McAllen? Is there one border crossing that is faster or leads to a safer route? What time is a good time to pass? Does it open at a certain time?

Does Parroquia de San Luis Obispo sound familiar? The padre was the padre for three small churches in the area. The one I was at was in a very small community of about 100 people. His office was in the basement. The courtyard in front was a graveyard with dates over 100 yrs old. Thats how old the Iglesia was.
Enjoy your trip. Steve

If you come from Houston, I choose Laredo, is fast, easy and just turn left from bridge 2, and you are in the Bulevar Colosio Avenue, that leads you to Monterrey Highway.

Regards!
