this isnt at all the first time florida has been through a housing boom:

I read that Gladesmen book. Its a firsthand account of living in the everglades in the great depression. I found something very interesting towards the back of the book under notes:

15. Land sales were so rapid during the boom years that small deposits (usually 10 percent of the property's value) were placed as binders, or options, for land in exchange for the ownership papers. A substantially higher payment was then due in thirty days or less. These land speculators, or so-called "binder boys" would then resell the bound property at a much greater profit to someone else, with only ever-increasing binders exchanging hands. the frenzied accumulation of binders and their brisk turnover partially account for the period's great inflation. When land values dramatically dropped in 1926, speculators left with multiple binders, in most cases, faced immediate financial ruin.

sound familiar?
flipping properties which led to this whole mess is ancient history. those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it right?

The level of ignorance hasn't changed much by making blanketed derogatory remarks without proof from a few posters as most of the forumers are level-headed with decent critical observations.

Government is done in English. In no way is Spanish the official language. All county forms and information such a voting ballots do need to be offered in three languages though, English, Spanish, Haitian Creole. Street signs are in English. No do more people speak Spanish here then English, yes but the majority of those people also speak English.

ill say though, those voting ballots. man. those multi language voting ballots are like the most ridiculously complex thing ever. a friend of mine who moved back up to new york where he was originally from said now he understands why the 2000 election turned out how it did.

^ well that really has nothing to with language though. I voted in 2000 and I only punched the ballot in English although I could voted in Spansid and I don't read Creole. I think Palm Beach county had the worst with those "butterfly" ballots! Now that was confusing!
