American as North and South America and the Caribbean. I do not think Denver, Seattle, Dallas, Boston etc.. have this. Boston is diverse, Seattle somewhat too but that can't be said about every major city.

Here are the city-data stats for each city (they are a bit outdated, but they'll give you an idea of the diversity of each city)

http://www.city-data.com/city/Dallas-Texas.html (Dallas)
http://www.city-data.com/city/Denver-Colorado.html (Denver)
http://www.city-data.com/city/Seattle-Washington.html (Seattle)
http://www.city-data.com/city/Boston-Massachusetts.html (Boston)

So Boston and Dallas could be considered pretty diverse. Denver doesn't really have enough Blacks to be considered diverse, and Seattle doesn't have enough Blacks or Hispanics to be considered diverse.

You can't really say all major cities are diverse (I know you're not the one saying it). You have a lot of rust-belt cities that are a 50/50 split between Whites and Blacks, but don't have any real prescence of Asians or Hispanics.

The stats aren't really up-to-date (they're more from the 2000 Census), but I'd consider it a fairly reliable source.

I mean, do you have a more reliable source? I'm open to suggestions (not being sarcastic)

I have another one for population density: Mapping the 2010 U.S. Census - NYTimes.com

It also shows the racial composition of each city, but you have to add up the numbers for each tract, which is very time-consuming.

^^^Yeah, I'm entertaining myself with that map right now. lol. If you think about it, NYC is dying a slow death... at least that's how I see it.

That's what I did when I first saw the map. Boy, we sure have some have some weird ideas of what qualifies as "entertainment", don't we?

And NYC's population is increasing. I don't see how that would be "dying a slow death".

Fly Mia,
That is all well and good; but when I go to NYC, I typically hear a dozen or so languages in a day. When I go to Miami, it's Spanish and they usually assume you speak it or are bilingual. I actually live in South Florida. So it comes down to perception and ratio. With such a large city do the amounts of other ethnic groups that you write about amount to a drop in a bucket?

Also, I've never seen Miami on any recent diversity list.
