Next week I'm going on a cruise. We live here in FL, so we'll be driving a couple hours to get there. I see online that parking right at the port costs $20 a DAY!! Is there anything cheaper than this? Thanks in advance!

Not really, there are some other parking lots that cater to the cruise ship passengers. But the reviews of people who have used them are mixed. I would suggest just parking at the port.

$20 a day is really not that bad. I have heard there are other places to park for port passengers but I have also heard bad things about them. The port is right downtown so $20 is the cheapest parking you will find.

Yeah I've read about other places online, but they don't seem too legit to me. Having to pay ahead of time with a credit card, but not even knowing the address is scary. I'd rather pay $20 a day and know that the car is safe than take a gamble like that. Thanks for the replies.

You can park at the airport in the economy lot for $8 per day,
Miami International Airport :: $8 / Day Economy Park & Ride Surface Lot on Airport Property :: View All Options and Rates :: Miami-Dade County

So if you're looking at a week long cruise,
At the port: $20 * 7 = $140
OR
Airport economy: $8 * 7 = $56 + taxi rate, $24 each way, plus $3 tip or so, $27 * 2 = $110
Is the $30 savings worth it? You decide.

Not for the length of time we're going. We're only going on a three night cruise. Someone would make a fortune if they were to build a close by LEGIT parking garage with security features! I guess I'm spoiled by the insanely cheap price of the cruise! Crusing is SO affordable right now!

Ah, yes, for three days park at the port.

Cruising is very cheap, especially if you resist the on board extras!

Wow what a rip off! No wonder I have no interest in travelling for a vacation. Then again, since I left the Miami area I have felt like a staycation was plenty excitement for me. Too bad there is no train anymore going through the state and to that port. Just rusted out abandoned tracks.

The train is suppose to come back. I agree they most certainly should have something to the port. Extend the peoplemover to the port. MIA-Port of Miami direct connection would be great.

$20 a day to park is really not that bad. And as the OP said the cruise was cheap. 3-5 day crusies these days are usually a great deal not a rip-off. Cruise companies know they wont make money off the ticket price. All their money is made on drinks and casinos and a few extras here and there. But the bar and casinos are the main money makers for the ships.

Extending the FEC line (or just getting it running) to the Port would be the best solution. You could funnel people from FLL and PBI down to the Port.

I know there was discussion about Metromover being extended to the Port, but really that made the least sense to me.
