Hi all,
I am a single mid-20's old male. I live and work in San Jose, CA but I am originally from Milan, Italy. I work in the high tech industry, reason why, over a year ago, I have moved to San Jose which is known as the heart of Silicon Valley. However, I am tired of this boring place, its weather and its people (who are only into work), not to mention its pathetic night life (I include its neighbor San Francisco in that) by European standards. In other words, I am tired of unattractive people, poorly dressed, sipping beer in some random San Francisco dive-bar and I am ready to see champagne and nice looking ladies like I have experienced in my trips to Miami. I am impressed with South Beach and find it a dream come true when it comes to weather, night life and people (I love the friendly South-American vibe). My question is: how possible is to have a satisfying (well paid) job in a top high tech company in Miami or surrounding areas? What company in the area should I look at? I am not interested in small companies as they do not offer all the benefits that large corporations provide (stocks, options, tuition reimbursement, relocation, etc). I speak English, Italian and a bit of Spanish and French. Thank you!

I think you'd be happier in Miami.

Check Careerbuilder.com...see if you can hook yourself up with a job. There's plenty of demand here and I'm sure that someone with your credentials wouldn't have a problem landing a decent job.

A lot of Europeans (including myself) enjoy Miami. I'm not even a big "club' person, but I love the warm water, tropical climate and Latin feel.

Huh.. I would've never though of SF being boring.. but then again I've never been there. Anyway, yeah sounds like you'd do well here. I'd stay away from mainland Miami and stick closer to the beach, otherwise you'll find the same thing here that you do up there (unattractive, poorly dressed people). Studios on the beach are surprisingly affordable, but they are older buildings, so you have bug problems a lot of times. I dont know what your budget is, so I guess it depends. I'm not sure what techy jobs are here though.. what company do you work for now? Maybe they can give you a transfer?

well, Miami has all that night life to offer, but forget about a good high tech job. Just a few weeks ago we found out that a site that was put aside for a tech park got no where, while politicians and contractors pocketed the money. and those beautiful people you are talking about.....moderator cut

You will love Miami - it is a melting pot of many nationalities. Any tech company that services South America would be in Miami or Ft. Lauderdale. Try Microsoft - they are in Broward. Need housing info, send me a note. Good luck!
