My family and I moved to Coral Springs, FL in 1970 and there were horses on the streets and 1 gas station which is still there on the corner of Coral Hills Dr. and Sample Rd., I think it is Mobile and there wasn't even a grocery store; had to travel to Margate for that. Coral Ridge Properties developed the town and did a fine job. I get lost there now since it has grown to over 100k people. You will get alot more for your $$ in Ocala but from what I have heard, that is where the next boom is heading since it is still affordable. The entire State of Florida will be the next Cali someday, at least IMO...

Depending on why you left Miami, you might find that Orlando is slightly better in many regards, but it'll be like Miami in 10-15 yrs. If you wanna see big changes, go to North FL or further north to GA/NC/SC.

As I'm sure you are aware it is congeston here as well. The whole state is just growing too fast and the public officials just can't keep up with the growth.
From personal experience this happened in California throughout the 70-90's and all of the rural towns in the center of the state became overidden with crime and bad element from spillout of the larger cities like Los Anegeles and San Franscisco, Miami's experiencing something similar now that Orlando and Miami are growing at scary speeds.
