Hello, this is my first post on this forum

I got an offer from Jackson Memorial Hospital and need to rent a house(or apartments) in miami. I heard that Pinecrest, Coral Gables, East Kendall, Doral are good areas to live. My husband and our 2-year-old daughter will move together and we're looking for a family-oriented safe area. Less than $1,500 per month would be nice, I think. Would you please recommend any areas considering my commute and my family?

Also got job in JMH area and starting in August, with wife and 1year old son. From my research about commute, safety, convenience, etc and discussions on this board, I have decided on the area around the Dadeland Mall (within walking distance of Dadeland north station which is, according to schedules, 25 mins from the Civic Center metrorail stop), OR on the north side of downtown in one of the big apartment complexes there (2 mins walk to metrorail which is less than 10 mins ride to Civ Ctr). Some people say that downtown in general is unsafe however, depends on your tolerance. I went there pretty extensively recently at night as well and it seemed fine to me.

Both areas have apartments for around 1200-1500.

Someone told me this week that they were told by people that had worked at JMH to avoid working there, just an fyi.... They didn't give me any reasons. Just they were told by doctors that had worked there to not take a job there unless your desperate for work.

I think that's pretty subjective. Jackson's a big place, and I've heard good and bad things from a lot of people, like any big company. A lot of it depends on what department you're working in and who your co-workers are.
