Took my 17 year old daughter to urgent care because one side of the white of her eye is red and they said she should see an opthamologist. There is one at Baptist but the reviews are pretty bad and not so great for the one at Miami Children's either. Urgent care gave her eye drops but it's been a week and it's still red.

TAYLOR G POOLE - POOLE This is mine. No complaints from me, he is a good doctor. I would also recommend seeing the doctor ASAP. Eyes is one thing where if I am feeling something wrong with one or them I get in right away. Could be anything but I would recommend this doctor.

This too. It is probably the best eye care center in the world.

With tons of doctors - but how do you pick who to go to? I've called two but was told one was for retinal issues, the other ocular oncologist. I guess they only see patients referred by regular opthamologists?

I may have to stay away from Google too? Every time I google someone, I get bad reviews. The few I've found that have positive reviews are specialists in a specific field of opthamology.

I have a few friends who use an ophthalmologist in South Miami. I will try and find out his name. Everyone I know who goes to him really speaks highly of him....his address is on Red Road (SW 57th Ave.).

Just as an fyi - an O.D. is an optometrist, not an ophthalmologist.

We were told she needs to see an opthamologist. Dr. Schneider does have great reviews. Wish he was an opthamologist, though I don't really know the difference. I know you usually go to the optometrist for glasses/lenses but they do thoroughly check your eyes so I don't know why my daughter just couldn't go to one?

Both can handle routine eye problems, but ophthamologists are medical doctors who can also treat diseases of the eye as well as perform surgery. Here are a couple of articles that explain the differences in more detail.
