what are some of the non-touristy bars/clubs which charge no cover or $5-$10 cover?

Downtown Fort Lauderdale. America's Backyard, Capones, Club Euro, Off the Hookah, ect. are pretty cool and relatively low key.

Justin's used to be in Aventura and was very much local, they recently moved to Bayside downtown Miami, might be worth checking out too. 11th st downtown has some, but it's very sketchy and can be more of a thug scene.

Many more local bars than local "clubs" nowadays... Also clubs are pretty much all hip hop and/or latin, I don't know of any that do solid rock and alternative or indie.

I'm not sure those exist in SoBe anymore. Just go get a couple sixes, sit outside your apt, and share with whoever's there. You'll make good friends in the hood and end up having a lot more bang for the buck than trying to p/u chicks in the $25 drink poser clubs.

@hurricaneMan1992..thanks!
@xSoBe...I am planning to come to SoBe for 1 week to 10 days to see how is it to live there first hand...Also, I plan to try out my 'game' during this period to see how things go )
(As a side note: I am kinda disappointed to learn that there are not many clubs in SoBe which charge no/less cover)

Any bar on Lincoln Road wont charge cover. Most of the bars on Ocean Drive don't either. They have tourist but they don't charge cover.

Just about any in Wynwood, Brickell or Coconut Grove wont charge cover either. Most clubs are charging cover. Those areas are more local than tourist.

Book your room at the hostel at 235 Washington. That's where I used to live. That place rocks, and it'll cost you a mere $25 a night - and it will be more fun than any hotel you could get at any price. That place has a vibe.

@FlyMIA: Thanks for the reply!
@xSoBe: looks like I need to share my room in that hostel....so privacy would be an issue esp if my night out ends with an adventure!...whats your opinion?
