I was born and raised in Miami. I was raised in a very American household, we celebrated Thanksgiving, 4th of July, watched football, yada yada yada. Lately Miami has become so filled with Hispanics and Latinos, that it's really hard to find any Americans like me to relate to. I'm not racist, but it's really annoying to have to talk to ten different people before you find someone who can speak English to help you in Walmart. I can speak Spanish, but I don't use it at all anymore. i think the hispanic culture is great but i now i feel resentment toward them. i feel like they have taken over my culture. almost everywhere you go you hear conversations in Spanish. i get addressed in Spanish and when I say I don't speak Spanish, they look at me like i'm a tourist. They are the tourists here, not me! am I the only person feeling like this?

***MOD CUT*** I read so many contradictions in your statements and lately Miami has become inhabited by Hispanics, come on now you are just now realizing that and I would say most are bilingual with English being one.

Your best bet is to just leave Miami, that's what I'm going to do after I get my BA. Go to school, get your education, and get the heck out of here. Miami is for the well off, for the Northerners seeking a permanent vacation, for ghetto people who love to represent the 305, and for Hispanics who want an English-free environment. That is what this town has come to be. There is no drive to excel, there is no drive for intellect, everyone is content just getting by in life.

The first thing you need to understand is that not everything is logical, that we're all hypocrites, and that no one is perfect. Why? Because people act with their emotions and also because if we were to worry about every single contradiction in our lives, then we'd end up driving ourselves crazy worrying about whether we're being hypocrites.

That being said, I will say that I was born and raised in Miami in a household where my parents only spoke spanish. Naturally, I feel I can speak Spanish pretty well. So what is the first thing I feel like thinking when I see a person my age or younger that is hispanic, but butchers it or uses an American accent while talking in Spanish? I think what a shame that they've forgotten their roots/culture.

Is it a fair assumption or logical? Hell no. I shouldnt be judgmental. Maybe their parents spoke English too or maybe they had no need for it growing up. Whatever the case, If I think about it, my reaction is dumb. But do most people that look down on you or treat you as a foreigner eventually realize this too? I cant say. Some people are more emotional than logical.

Either way, I honestly dont think you should pay a lot of attention to this and keep on living your life. You're not the only person this has happened to. I will say that I've gotten **** treatment from both americans and hispanics because they think I'm from a certain background because I can pass as many. People are individuals, not groups. Move away and you'll find people that are jerks to you for other reasons. There are *******s from every race, culture, etc.

I have always been looked at differently. I am the Hispanic that looks like he was bathed in Clorox. Whiter than dandruff. I however am planning a move to Miami very soon. I hopefully will be getting transferred to the Sweetwater area and regardless of race, nationality, skin color, or social economic status I can't wait to move there and once again be fully immersed in the Latin community.

The Latinos are white Christians...They can be Americanised but the American spirit is constantly defamed by the leftists..They fight the guns, the death penalty, the rich, the capitalism...If America does not have a symbolism,it cannot attract people from other nations...Many Latinos do not feel that Americans are the supernation & USA is the superpower & prefer to keep their ethnic identity...NRA should donate a pistol to every...naturalised US citizen, upon naturalisation...

Hmmm, no.

I lived in Miami and I finally got out of there in 2011. I do not get treated like "****" every day like I did down there. No one judges you on what you wear, what you drive, or where you work. All they care about is that you work and hold your own. Oh, and that you don't act like a jerk.

No, it is NOT the same "everywhere", that's just what the people in Miami tell themselves to make themselves feel better about the arrogant rudeness that perpetuates that town. It's too bad...she's a beautiful city to look at, but her obnoxious behavior makes her very, very ugly. Kind of like a lot of residents in Miami. Look great until they open their mouths. And boy do they open it a LOT! and loudly.

Miami is not the only part of Florida where Spanish is the first language. It is only a symptom of an economy propped up by the Federal Reserve and free money thrown at wasteful projects and a corrupt medical system. When the current bubble economy pops, and people actually have to produce real items, I can see Miami going the way of Havana Cuba. Spanish is here to stay for the rest of our lives it seems.
