Well I will be moving to Kendall soon and still a bit worried about my job. I am a Pharmacy Tech and transfering and still wonder if I will be ok not knowing Spanish. Hope it will go well. The Pharmacist didn't mention anything when I did the transfer when she talked to the other Pharmacist. I heard from people who are from there as long as the actual Pharmacist can speak spanish then I should be ok. But who knows? lol thanks

you will be fine. The whole "spanish everywhere" thing down here is so overated. It is not that bad in most places...certainly not kendall.

OP- I think it depends on your employer. I maybe be mistaken, but doesn't the Tech deal with the customers. I just picked up a prescription, I dealt with the Pharmacist directly because she was the only one working the late shift at 11pm. But during the day its the Tech person that deals with the customers usually isn't it? So I would think that as tech person most employers in Miami-Dade County would want some that is bilingual, the Pharmacist would be the one that wouldn't need to be bilingual.

You will be able to get by without Spanish, but it will be a constant struggle interacting with people who have limited English and a different cultural background. You will be able to shop, go out and do the same things you do now wherever you live, but when you move to a predominantly Spanish-speaking community your everyday relationships change since you will be excluded from most conversations, only because you don't know what is being said. I really think it will boil down to quality of life in this regard...but it's not like it's IMPOSSIBLE to make it without Spanish.
