South Florida Future survival checklist
With the economy on a collision course with reality, what are some goals for south Florida residents to survive and thrive? The reality of low wages, and high costs will change over the next few years. Here are some ideas I have to avoid being a victim of the crash:
1) Own a home that cost you no more than 3X your gross family income when you payed for it.
2) Avoid condos where you can be kicked out on the street due to neglect or poor construction
3) Dump all debt, spend your cash on what you need.
4) Get rid of the gas guzzler or convert to a low-cost or free fuel
5) Get a network of friends with diverse skills.
6) If you can, build a permanent home that is fireproof and hurricane proof away from an evacuation zone.
7) Learn how to create and repair some things yourself.
8) Get in shape and try to have a healthy eating schedule.
9) If you have the space, start a vegetable garden or plant fruit trees.
Any other useful ideas?

10. Burglary tools.
11. Cocaine.
12. Cannabis.
(uh oh, is it 1985 again?)
13. A gun.
All joking aside (except for the gun part), I would add an understanding (or at least accepting view) of different cultures and a good bicycle (it's actually not that bad to bike in a lot of areas!).

Ditto X 9 plus number 13 and the biking is an excellent idea
Maybe get a quad type of thing if you're out in the boonies.
I'd add knowledge of water safety (storage) methods.
To number 3 I'd add, try the freedom of living simply. Stop buying crap (buy what you need lol)
To number 5 I'd add, try to build a bartering system into the network.

Funny, I forgot about the gun, as I assumed that most in the gunshine state own one or several. In fact, I have never had a friend who did not have a gun or guns. As for water storage, I do have a 1,000 gallon cistern so that's something too. The boat comes in handy if fishing is needed.
"Stop voting idiots into power"
Now that's too much to ask from south Florida voters. In fact they often have only idiots running to choose from!
