Looks like we might be able to have a hurricane party here Ike is kind of scary looking! Are you guys starting to prepare again or are you going to wait and see what happens in the next couple days?

The forecasters have gotten this years forecasts all wrong. They had Gustav aimed at us last week, and it went to Louisiana. They had Hanna going up the coast of Florida, look what happened there. I am waiting to see what happens with IKE, some neighbors of mine have started to put up shutters.

I hope he's right. Altough, if I knew my insruance company wasn't going to fold in a big storm, I'd wish for something big to collect on my upside-down house and then get the hell out of here.

Miami has definitely been dodging bullets this year as far as hurricanes go. You can't put alot of faith in weatherman to where these storms are going to go,all you can do is put your faith and trust in God,because he is the one in control, not man.

Gustav had been forcasted for Louisiana for a while, Gustav was probaly the best forcasted storm in a while. Hanna has been all over the place and the cone seems to move more eastward everyday. Right now athe computer models are not in aggremnet like they were for Gustav, thats why Ike's cone is so huge, but as of now that storm looks terrifying and we seem to be its bullseye, I wont get too worried right now but in the coming days we'll know more. Definetly a storm to keep your eye on.

If it's a catagory 2 or 3 storm I'm buying water and canned food. If it's a catagory 4 or 5 storm I'm buying a plane ticket.

This is pretty good advice. Although I would say that if it's a strong cat 3 I'd be out of there. Remember, hurricanes can intensify as they make landfall or just before, like Andrew did. All I can think of now when I think about the "preparation" my parents and most people at the time made for Andrew is, "What the h*ll were we thinking?!?!"

It is still a little too soon to be able to plan for Ike, but if it keeps on like it is and remains a strong storm, I wouldn't stick around.

Let's hope that we don't get one, the whole state is saturated with water. A slow moving cat 3 will generate gargantuan damages.

Yes, hurricane parties is the way to go, I have one every Friday....
