You can't tell people how they should feel. For some climate is important, for others it's not. I've spent a lot of time in Miami and a lot of time in the Boston/Southern New Hampshire are, so I know what the deal is. I spent a lot of winter weekends skiing, for years (until I tore an ACL). When I lived in Manchester, my condo was like pre-ski central.

When the ground is covered with snow, as it often was for weeks (and sometimes months) at a time, your options are limited.

One thing you do not see in South Florida is seasonal affective disorder.

To me, climate is an important consideration in quality of life, but it's not as important as career considerations. That's my opinion. Others' opinion in that area are no less valid.

Sunshine may not be everything in life to you--but without it, none of us would exist. Some people prefer more sunshine than others. I happen to be one that loves the sunshine. I spent the month of Dec. travelling GA,NC, & VA--it was cloudy and rainy virtually the entire month. I was very happy to see my beloved sunshine upon my arrival back in "The Sunshine State".

I lived up north for 40 years--I put my coat on thru many northern Illinois winters. By the way, after living in Florida for 8 years now, I have become very acclimated to this climate. I don't even like our cooler days (like now) when I have to put jeans and a long sleeve shirt on. I am definitely a shorts person--so the idea of adding the weight of the coat, hat, mittens, scarf, & boots on over everything else kind of sucks.

Unless winter sports are your thing, most people enjoy sunshine and warmer temps. I did not say everyone--I said MOST. Different strokes for different folks

I actually think its ranked pretty appropriatly. What's this image so many of you talk about? The drug, crime, immigrant reputation we see in movies, media and television?!

Been back to Miami for 8 months now. BY FAR the most annoying thing about living here are the folks who seem to be constantly "annoyed." (You'll read their posts here all the time.)
Example: went to Publix the other day. Woman not quite getting her kids organized to move, juggling a stroller and a toddler in a tight space in front of the store (C Gables/S Miami one). Was she selfish, stressed, preoccupied, oblivious? A little of all?? I don't know.
But FAR more annoying was the big gringo trying to get by her exasperating a loud sigh. She was dealing with something, he was loudly proclaiming his unhappiness.

I'll take this woman in my way over the big annoyed guy everyday. Unfortunately you run into too many of these folks.
Thankfully that is THIS big gringo's biggest annoyance ... life if pretty good overall!
