Hi,

Could someone tell me if you can subscribe to another cable company than comcast for cable TV and high speed internet access in the coral gables, coconut grove area. What about South Miami?

I did a search on google , but I was not able to find much.
Thanks!

I've used Atlantic and I wasn't too happy with their customer support.

I can't recommend them, or Comcast either.

That's just amazing that there are only 2 companies in a big area like this. Thanks for the answer though.
Anyone else experience?

And depending on where you live, you may be stuck with just one or the other.
And both choices are terrible.

Is satellite a better option then? I was kind of concerned that with the rainy weather in Miami , satellite reception could be pretty tricky.

You might want to look into that option.

Comcast are horrible - their customer service dept. sucks (if you can get through to them). I got Cable TV with them 2 years ago and had a horrible experience with them. They supplied us with a faulty box, then I had to fight, fight, fight with them to get a new one, before I eventually gave up and had to fight with them some more to get a refund (it took 4 months to get my money back).

Go with satellite, if you can...Dish Network are very good and I'd have them here if we were allowed dishes in our building. I use Atlantic Broadband at the moment and they're OK-ish.

I think location has a lot to do with the quality of service you get with the business being the same.
I stayed at a Days Inn in Portland Maine a couple of years ago and it was real spiffy, friendly people. Our breakfast waitress even cried when it was time for us to leave and we took pictures, exchanged #s etc.
Now, In Miami and even Fort Lauderdale, they are pretty scary to say the least. I would not live there alone let alone with my family. I am thinking of those campy horror movies where the bet is on who can stay the longest in the haunted hotel. Sorry to go way off tangent here, just my thoughts.

I would look into satellite for sure. The only time the satellite cutts out if it is a hard rain, if it is light sprinkle it is fine. Only a few times, but if you add a small antenna in the atttic, you will never lose the basic channels (4,6,7,10). Plus after a hurricane, once you get power back your satellite is up and running. People with cable have to wait usually, IMO.

I had Dish Network (great service) for over a year and occasionally, I would lose signal because of heavy rain, but it didn't last for long. One great thing was that after a hurricane, I didn't have to wait to get my service back...I just hooked the dish back up and hey presto....there it was. I know of people with cable who were without service for weeks.
