What's up guys,

Moving to Miami. Hope you guys can give me a little information on the Palms Place Apartment Houses and the surrounding area. It's located at 8217 SW 72nd Avenue Miami, FL 33143. Is the area quiet, fun? Hows the convenience to stores and restaurants. Will traffic be a problem going towards downtown?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah you're right next to Dadeland Mall. Also convenient to the Metrorail (which will take you downtown if you're commuting that way). I'm not familiar with the complex--is that one of the newer ones that sprung up along the canal?

It's a nice area...grocery stores, Dadeland Mall and South Miami aren't too far away.

you're definitely close to lots of shopping, restaurants, etc. pretty much everything you can think of. (if you like BBQ you're right near Shorty's, the best BBQ i ever had in Miami...or anywhere in FL for that matter.) your commute will be approx. 30-40 minutes, depending on what time you leave in the am and where you need to go downtown. but as flyers29 pointed out, you are within walking distance to the metrorail, which can get you downtown in less than 1/2 the time and is MUCH easier than dealing with miami's crappy drivers. you've picked a good location. i lived closeby, in south miami, and am very familiar with the area. let me know if there's anything in particular you're looking for.

Like everyone said, this is a nice area, close to so many things that you would need. Close enough to the beach too. The commute to downtown will probably take you 30 minutes depending what time of the day you take US1 to downtown. Like patrice said you can hop on the metrorail right at the Dadeland North station just east of these apartments. Location wise this a good choice, I don't know enough about those particular apartments to help.

You will find plenty of nice complexes there for that price, even 2/2 is possible, but I think your main problem will be the pet. A lot of complexes that allow dogs only allow small dogs < 15-20 pounds (~7-10 kg).
