I have been hearing that the Michigan job outlook is getting much better. I will be relocating to Michigan sometime within the next year. Just wondering what to expect? Is the economy growing at all or still the same old thing?

Actually I just heard today that hiring in the Detroit area is up 55% from last year...not saying a whole lot, but it is the highest hiring percentage in the country. Overall, I am hearing some good things...not good enough for most people, but good none the less.

Dont mind the previous poster and his 100th new poster name. He just sits under his heat lamps and ferns, drinking all day telling people how miserable everything and everyone is while pretending he is in Florida. He may be in Florida actually, which may account for his bad attitude.

It depends a lot on what type of job you are looking for. My fiancee' had been out of work for over a year due to motorcycle accident, as soon as he was cleared to work again he started looking and found a good paying job within a month, he is in a professional field and has a college degree. My nephew is in his early 20s with no marketable skills or college, same for his wife, they are both really struggling to find work, they have been doing temp jobs with no benefits to stay afloat, but are struggling to support their baby.

My nephew is in his early 20s with no marketable skills or college, same for his wife, they are both really struggling to find work, they have been doing temp jobs with no benefits to stay afloat, but are struggling to support their baby.

I really don't think things are getting better. I am currently unemployed and have been searching for a job a little over 6 months now.

May I ask what your fiancee does? I've got a professional degree too, but I've been subbing for three years and things aren't getting any better. As much as I'd like to use my degree, I'd settle for anything that pays the bills at this point.

He's in the legal field, I have friends in the medical field and they are also all working with good pay. If you are a teacher, that's another story, I hear there aren't any teaching jobs here. I'm sure it depends where people live also, we are in metro Detroit.
