Can anyone tell me is there a way of finding out who a mediator was in a grievance procedure, and if a person did, would that mediator tell an employee why he or she did not rule in their favor? If all else fails is there a group of mediators that would look at my grievance and let me know how he or she would have ruled on it and what chances it would have at abritration? I live in Michigan and belong to a union which everyone is seeking a change, and yes I am trying to make a change, I will be taking the Chief Steward position in a few days that was held by the previouse Chief Steward that is also on the bargaining committee for over 15 years. I was told at the last Union meeting if the mediator would have said there was 1% chance of me winning my case at arbitration they would have taken it to arbitration, but since the mediator couldn't even give a 1% chance in my favor of winning there was nothing else to do but to drop my grievance at that point. Thank you
