I'm 22, and I'm currently a truck driver. I have no residence, just traveling and saving a ton of money. In the last few years I have been a free spirit, moving and bouncing around frequently. I am looking at when I finish with this company, thinking about where to live. I miss having a place to live and being able to cook and such.

I was born in st joseph, but my family moved aaway when I was one. At 20, I moved to St louis, then in the summer I made a spur of the moment trip to St joe to see it for the first time in 10 years or so. I loved it. The summer weather is beautiful, I love lake michigan, it's my hometown. After doing research, there are trucking companies in the area that have good pay and offer 2 home days a week. also plenty of other places in michigan i want to see. So I am thinking about putting down a base there.

Main concern: Winter time. What is it like? I lived in st louis last year, so I can do winter right? What am I in for? I love hoodie and bonfire weather but how long is winter and how do you make it through? Sit inside and stare out the window eating chili and watching football all day?

Also, for a 22 yo guy, how would I quickly get involved and meet people? Seemed like it was mostly families with children when I visited. I have considered doing some college. Is there activities for people my age?

Thanks for any input

Winter is from December to about April. You're pretty much inside all day, it'll be hard for someone who's never experienced northern winters before. St. Louis's winter doesn't really compare, there's snow on the ground from the middle of December to March here. I don't live there so I couldn't tell you about things to do, but there are 2 colleges in the area if you ever decide to go that route.

There's no law that says if there's snow on the ground that you can't go outside. You can even go to the beach, just dress warmer.
