My sister and I are planning to move to Battle Creek at the end of May. I've looked at some background information but that's nothing like talking to people from the area or people who have been there.
I'm 22 and my sister will be 17 we are moving to just escape our current situation. Battle Creek like other places seems to have it's ups and downs. Any suggestions?
We will be moving from Oklahoma

Sorry, but its the most depressing city I've seen outside of Flint and Saginaw. Poverty and blight everywhere. The local paper used to have a daily police blotter. It was always full of things like young, pregnant girls being beaten by old drunk boyfriends. The crime rate is very high and theres a serious shortage of jobs.
Despite their problems, Jackson or Kalamazoo are better. Or any of the smaller towns.
Go online and read the Battle Creek Enquirers web page. That will be a start. its a bleak place that will cause depression.

Well this is a little harsh.

Battle Creek can be fine, depending on what part of town. Some of the surrounding areas are quite nice. I like downtown Battle Creek. Will you be living in the city itself or a nearby town? There are certainly some rough parts of Battle Creek, but it is not all doom and gloom like the previous post said. It really depends on where you will be living exactly.
