Moving to Warren from a city north of Auburn Hills where having a bonfire or a fire pit doesn't seem to be a big deal. Sounds like Warren might not be okay with this. Anyone have experience with it in the area?

Thank you!

Perhaps call the City of Warren and ask? Because it would really suck if someone here told you it was okay and then you got hit by a fine, because you asked strangers on the internet, most of whom will guess or base it on "well I once knew someone, it was actually their cousin's hairdresser's dog's mother-in-law who possibly didn't actually live in Warren, who maybe didn't get in trouble when they had a firepit for 2 days," when you could go right to the source...

I went to the Warren City Code on Municode.com Hopefully the link below takes you to what I am looking at.
Bonfires and open burning are prohibited. Only fires in approved containers for cooking. And only with natural gas, propane or commercially available charcoal or charcoal briquets.
So it appears to be illegal. Having said that often things like that are enforced only through complaints. So if your neighbors are all very "tolerant" it is possible you could get away with the violation.

I guess I'll have to go and be a super nice neighbor when I get there. Hehe. There is a cubby area behind the house that's closed off to the street... but I will have a large lawn area where it would be preferable. Hmmm. Thnk you for the site link! It'll come in helpful for other things.

Maybe approved containers would include those big ornamental metal firepit bowls.

I grew up in Warren and my dad and sisters still live there. Fires are against the city code, but it isn't really enforced unless there is a complaint, so really it depends on who your neighbors are. My dad has a handful of fires a year and it's never been an issue. His neighbors have fires all the time.

Thank you. We do have a small area behind the house and next to the garage that is away from the street but definitely open to neighbors.

The neighbor facing the house is another story! The second night we stayed there they decided to get a bit happy with their drinks I guess and were a bit loud arguing. I thought the guy was talking to me but my bf says that another car pulled up after I left and was getting yelled at also. So, it wasn't me. "Get the F*k Out!" was yelled at me. Yikes!

Welcome to WARREN!

For 20 plus years the house next door to me was a rental. We never had issues with the various tenants over the years. Although one stretch of 24 months we dubbed the neighbors "Mr. and Mrs. FaQue" based on a certain phrase they often seemed to use with one another.
