This is a loaded question so bear with me! I will try to make it short and sweet, though. I have been going to college for quite sometime now and am almost finished with my pre-req's; ready to enter any RN program. WHile I do carry a 4.0 GPA, I have been hit with the reality that almost any college/ university that I apply to( in Macomb/ Oakland/ Wayne county) has a waitlist of about 1.5-3 years. I really cannot wait that long due to student loans and such. I need to start ASAP. My husband and I have discussed it and we'd be willing to move with our 3 children somewhere else just for me to go to college sooner. However I am not familiar with colleges outside of the tri-county area. I thought my friends here a city data could lend me a hand in finding some schools that do not have waitlists for the RN program! Thank you so much!!!

I am on my way to work and do not know if they have a RN program, but you can always check out GVSU, WMU, MSU, and CMU to see if they do.

Try University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. They have one of the best programs I know of for medical fields. Eastern University might have a program too..same area..but I'm not sure. I went to Central Michigan University which I think was starting a brand new program in that field when I graduated last year. They built a brand new facility for some medical program or other anyway.

I've heard that every nursing program in the state has a waiting list. That was why the gov. proposed expanding nursing training programs--no money for that now, though. But NMU in Marquette does have a nursing program; it wouldn't hurt to find out if their waiting list is shorter than downstate.

Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie has a great program with no waiting as of when I checked 18 months ago.
NMU in Marquette does have a waiting list.
